Secrets and soulmates

Secrets and Soulmates is our third unscripted microdrama with ReelShort, and easily one of the most ambitious builds we’ve taken on in the vertical space. The challenge was simple on paper: create our own take on a Love Island-style house show, keep the quality high, and make it work on a microdrama budget. So naturally, we built a full-scale unscripted house experience, with over 20 cameras, a cast living together, and moments unfolding around the clock. The result is a show that feels big, messy, emotional, and very real, even within the tight constraints of vertical storytelling.

The series follows a group of bold singles who move in together, each unknowingly living alongside their secret soulmate. Hidden connections, shifting alliances, temptation, and game-like challenges push the cast to question whether they’re following real chemistry or getting distracted by the wrong spark. As relationships form and secrets surface, every choice brings them closer to true connection, or pulls them further away from the one person they were meant to find.

Behind the scenes, Secrets and Soulmates was a technical and creative puzzle. We treated it like a true unscripted house show, designing a 24/7 capture system within the limits of a microdrama production model. It pushed our team to rethink what’s possible in vertical storytelling, and set a new bar for what unscripted formats can look like on mobile-first platforms.
